RODS

the current rod lineup

Rods

Zia Rods - Our entry price in to the Project. We originally made this rod to be a youth rod that didn’t look like a silly kids rod. We found out we love it as a small stream rod with small handles and shorter lengths for tight and accurate casting. We also make it in a 9 foot 5 weight as an option for a step up from most “kit” rods.

Project One Rods - This is the flagship all purpose rod series that we originally made in the shed. This rod has the original spalted maple reel seats and micro full wells grips we made from scratch in the shed. We consider this a fast action series with different actions based on the weight and rod purpose. We like the look of unsanded blanks and we like the lightness and raw action as opposed to painted rod blanks.

Cree Rods - Originally called the Jackalope this rod was designed to be a lightweight and classic action that is built like a modern fast action that can handle the winds of central Montana and still deliver a dry fly accurately.

Saga Rods - The Saga had nearly three years of development and field testing before it was ready to manufacture. It started with a mission to create a legitimate saltwater rod that was extra fast and flat shooting. It needed to be light in hand, punchy, and quick to recover, capable of making long and straight shots on one back cast. The Saga is built around quality components and service that can be trusted on trips across the world.

Haka Rods - The Fly Project Haka was developed with a smooth and laid-back action for smaller waters or dead calm days on the Missouri. We use the most responsive fiberglass that we can find, which makes the Haka quicker than old school glass rods. This rod is surprisingly quick and light, but make no mistake, it’s still a glass rod with a retro slow action. We used a traditional shaped, grade A cork handle, single foot guides, and a translucent teak colored blank.
